We are pleased to inform you that The 2nd APEC Workshop on Protection, Restoration and Ecological Disaster Reduction of Typical Coastal Ecosystem (OFWG 09 2024S) will be held on 24-25 October in Qingdao, China. The workshop is designed to continuous extend and exchange the experience and technology in the protection, restoration, and ecological disaster reduction of typical coastal ecosystems to other APEC economies. To achieve this objective, a training workshop will be conducted. Three issues facing APEC economies will be addressed as special topics: (1) pollution, protection and restoration of coastal wetland ecosystems; (2) marine mammal research, conservation and management; (3) research and practice on the synergistic effects of ecological methods and disaster reduction.

Nominations for this training workshop are being sought from OFWG representatives. All 21 APEC member economies are welcome and invited to nominate participants to attend the training workshop.

Up to ONE active expert participant from each APEC travel-eligible economy will be funded by sponsoring economy.

APEC OFWG focal points need to send copies of the Nomination Form (ANNEX II) to the contact indicated on the form with the details of the nominated speaker or expert participant applying to attend the Workshop through e-mail by the deadline.  The deadlines for any nomination:for speakers will be 7/10/2024 and for expert participants will be 7/10/2024.
